Opinions, please!

Okay, here’s the deal: we are planning on fixing things up and painting the interior of the house in order to get it ready to sell next year sometime – or possibly sooner.  These cupboard doors were painted just after we bought the house and badly need repainting, so I figure I may as well go with something a bit more neutral for the sake of resale.  The walls behind the doors will all be barely off-white as will the rest of the house.  They were painted an awful light brown when we bought the house and I’m definitely not going there again!  So, with that in mind, what is a good colour for the doors, for easy resale??

Ummmm, Katie. I’m probably not the one to ask as I’ve covered the ugly old kitchen cabinet doors in this rental house with a photo print of Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, a giant Airwolf uniform patch, a mystical fairy print, and a giant glow-in-the-dark squeaky rubber octopus among other things. 😉

Ummmmm, perhaps a very, very, very pale powdery blue?

Just avoid 1960’s-1970’s avocado green and mustard yellow, and you’ll be fine. 😉

I so want to get into a house where I’m going to stay for quite some time..and start doing crazy things like making a mural wall where the kids are allowed to draw and paint all they want. My mom has a house and yard like that and I’m insanely jealous of her – even though she doesn’t really have more space than me or anything.

Speaking of which, did you ever see the movie Harriet the Spy? Anyway, they go to this ladies house and she has this awesome yard with all this repurposed stuff made into sculptures and play things. That is what I want!!

Honestly if you give the walls a little bit of color it will be better for resale. Go with warm colors I think and you could still be close to neutral colors even if you just avoid the off-white.
